ST MARK’S CATHEDRAL
Dear Churchwardens, Chapel Wardens, Parish Councillors and Parishioners.
We greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank you for your faith and steadfast commitment to God and our Parish and, in particular, for your loyal financial contributions under difficult circumstances imposed on all of us by the untimely Corona-19 virus pandemic.
We are grateful to our State President and the Corona-19 virus task team for acceding to the request by faith and religious bodies for the resumption of services and we are in a position to inform you that the Cathedral’s Clergy team are presently in discussions to plan for the resumption of worship in line with the regulations as set out by the State President. The opening of our Church buildings for worship with not more than 50 in attendance poses major difficulties which call for careful planning and preparation, with consideration of the use of facilities, frequency of services, days and times of worship, as well as taking into account the potentially heavy financial implications of adhering to the regulatory safety protocols . We shall keep you informed about developments regarding these and any other relevant issues.
Meanwhile, we thank you for your patience as well as for your courage, as well as for your continued prayers for God’s wisdom, guidance and courage as we seek a way forward. We shall, no doubt, need and rely upon each and every one of our parishioners to assist in whatever way in order to facilitate the resumption of worship in a safe, caring and responsible manner. We, and no doubt all of you, are looking forward to coming together as the ‘family’ of God in our Father’s house with worship, prayers, praise and thanksgiving for God’s sustaining power and grace, especially during this trying and difficult time. As we know from past experience, God always makes a way when there seems to be no way at all so all praise and glory be to God, our strength and our Redeemer.
Yours in the service of our Lord
